Why I Choose Organic
It’s common knowledge that adding whole foods to your diet will improve your health, but you might be getting harmed by the whole foods that should only be benefiting you. I started eating organic food a few years ago, and can still remember the difference. Not only in quality and flavor, but also in how I felt after eating. The chemicals that are used on non organic produce can cause short and long term damage to your body.
My wife, who was my girlfriend at the time, encouraged me to try organic fed, no hormone, free range chicken meat and eggs to get me started in organic foods. I noticed the difference in the color of the yoke which she told me was from the added nutrients that the chickens get from grazing on grass and insects and not just grains. I also noticed that there was more flavor to the egg and the chicken and that the chicken was much more moist. She convinced me with the flavor, but I now know I would never go back to buying conventionally raised produce or meat because of the health benefits that I have gained.
The combination of chemicals that accumulates in a human body from consuming pesticides along with growth hormones and antibiotics that animals are fed have been proven to lead to cancer, and other sever illnesses. Some people are bothered by the price of organics, but the long term damage to your health can cost more money than preventing illnesses with a healthier and better sourced diet. Also, the more people support an organic market, the lower the prices will become and farmers will change their harmful practices in order to keep up with the demand.
